For Beshear, it helps to be in office

Kentucky and Louisville government employees, appointees and their spouses have contributed more than a half-million dollars to help re-elect Gov. Steve Beshear, accounting for 20 percent of the campaign's formidable $2.5 million war chest, a Courier-Journal analysis has found.
